What’s Wrong with Being a “High Maintenance” Woman?

My annual budget for haircuts runs comfortably into five digits. I own an ungodly amount of silver jewellery, bags, and indigo dresses. I suppose I am what society calls “high maintenance”. But I promise you, no man was hurt in the making of this film.

Too Small, Too Bouncy, Or Sagging: Can Women Ever Stop Worrying About Their Breasts?

The Gurgaon Woman’s Misogyny is a By-Product of Slut-Shaming in Schools

In a now viral video, a Gurgaon woman is seen slut-shaming a girl, saying she and her friends “deserved to be raped” because of the clothes she wore. How to Slowly Give Up on Vrats: A Married Indian Woman’s Cheat Sheet

“Why do you fast if it makes you so cranky,” my daughter asked. Really, why are women expected to fast, especially for the well-being of the patidev, who anyway fritters away this hard-won long life by watching cricket matches and silly political debates on television?

Cab-Pooling Only With Women Option Must in Ola, Uber: How Long Will We Segregate Women to Keep them Safe?

According to the latest notice issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ola and Uber must provide a “female-only co-passengers” option while cab-pooling. While regulations like these encourage women to travel, it also raises the question: In 2020, why do we still have to rely on safety in numbers?

Why Transpeople Are Upset with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019

The trasngender community’s frustration at the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill is understandable, as their campaign to have a say in the Bill has gone largely ignored for months.

The Only Resolution India Needs to Make in 2021: To Reduce Crimes Against Women

According to NCW data, 23,722 complaints of crimes against women were received in 2020, the highest in the last six years. For all the cases reported, there are hundreds that go unreported. Can we make the country safer for women this year?
