Produced by the South Korean educational company Pinkfong, “Baby Shark” has garnered over seven billion views since its release in June 2016. The ultra-catchy, repetitive, and cute (depending on who you ask) children’s song became a viral sensation worldwide after its release, even making its way to global music charts. In January 2019, the addictive tune ranked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100, and bagged a #6 spot in the UK singles chart.
The colourful video featuring baby sharks underwater as children sing the unforgettable “Baby Shark doo doo doo doo doo” is actually a remix of an American campfire song.
Interestingly, the song is not just a hit among its young listeners – the tune picked up some adult fans as it raked global attention. Last year, the Washington Nationals baseball team picked “Baby Shark” as their anthem. The song was played in the White House when the team went on to win the World Series.
“Baby Shark” isn’t just a song, it’s an emotion.
Hahaha … My grandchildren loved this song so much & would sing it to me endlessly, we had great fun with it … So this makes me laugh! … Baby Shark becomes most viewed YouTube video ever, beating Despacito https://t.co/y2jzzxrLLf

In fact, amid the global health crisis, the song has also been in anti-pandemic service with a coronavirus-themed version, “Wash Your Hands”, to teach children the importance of personal hygiene.
Okay 2020, we’ve seen it all now.
