Marvel’s She-Hulk will be played by Tatiana Maslany, the actor best known for the sci-fi thriller Orphan Black. “Welcome to the family, cuz,” says Bruce Banner.
After months of keeping its fans on the edge of their seats, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally introduced the world to its newest member. Tatiana Maslany, the actor best known for the sci-fi thriller Orphan Black, has been confirmed to play the role of “She-Hulk” in a series slated for release in 2022.
The announcement was met with a lot of fanfare, including from Mark Ruffalo, who plays She-Hulk’s cousin, Bruce Banner, or the Hulk, in the super successful Avengers series.

The director of the new series, Kat Coiro, whose name was floated for the role just a few days ago, has confirmed that Maslany will play the role of She-Hulk. She is said to be a more intelligent and controlled version of her male counterpart. Coiro shared the news in a post on Instagram, saying she couldn’t be more excited about the development.

In the comics, She-Hulk is a lawyer named Jennifer Walters, who gains superpowers after getting a blood transfusion from her cousin, the Hulk. She acquires a milder version of Bruce Banner’s affliction, which means that she has the ability to retain most of her personality, even when she goes into super-strength mode.
Quick SHE-HULK continuity for new readers:
At the start of SAVAGE SHE-HULK, Jen Walters would change into She-Hulk when enraged.
By the end of that series, she could change at will, but preferred to stay as She-Hulk.

She-Hulk is an integral part of the Marvel Universe, having been part of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, the Defenders and S.H.I.E.L.D. Her law background also ensures that she frequently fights legal cases on behalf of her superhero colleagues.
The decision to cast the Emmy-winning Tatiana Maslany as the new character was received with uncharacteristic and overwhelming positivity on Twitter.
bro, I have been her fan since Orphan Black days. You don't know how amazing her acting range is. Emmy Winner Tatiana Maslany is Jennifer fucking Walters. She is gonna play She-Hulk. pic.twitter.com/5GXIEdKDsl

I just started thinking about Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk interacting with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and I might need to go lie down for a while

While best known for Orphan Black, Maslany has appeared in a number of popular TV series and films, and has a massive fan following. In the past, she’s appeared along side Helen Mirren in the 2015 film Woman in Gold, the 2016 romantic-drama The Other Half, and in the 2017 biopic on the Boston bombings, Stronger. Most recently, she also played a significant role in HBO’s popular period drama, Perry Mason.
She-Hulk is just one of the many series the MCU has tied up with Disney+ to bring to life, a list that also includes “Ms Marvel” and “Moon Knight”. We’re sure fans can’t wait to see how Maslany will bring her latest role to life.
