IIT student Prakash Jhadhav’s picture with his mother taken at his graduation has gone viral. What stands out is his mother’s warm smile and her bright pink nine-yard saree.
This last year hasn’t given us much to smile about, with the coronavirus pandemic, the subsequent blow to the economy, and a string of high-profile deaths dominating most headlines and talking points on social media.
However, a recent post, which shows an IIT student paying tribute to his mother at his graduation ceremony, has been warming hearts on the networking site LinkedIn for the last few days, and reminding us that there is some good left in the world.
The picture, which was apparently taken a year ago when the student had graduated from Fergusson college in Pune, has gone viral on the site since it was posted three days ago, amassing over 17,000 likes by Wednesday.
Uploaded by IIT-Dhanbad student Prakash Jhadhav, the post is captioned, “One of the most precious days of my life” and shows the young graduate standing beside his mother in a pink saree. “I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life!!” it continued, quoting Abraham Lincoln.
Thousands of doting commenters flocked to the post, praising the student for taking the time out to appreciate all the effort his mother had put in to get him to this stage in his life. “I’m totally overwhelmed with this support and your wishes,” Jadhav posted after the outpouring of support.
As reported by IndiaTimes, Jadhav graduated at the top of his class from Fergusson College in Pune, where he was studying for his Bachelor’s degree. At the IIT, he is now studying for his Masters in Science in the field of applied geology.
But as his graduation post reminds us, and many of us are quick to forget as we get older, none of this could have happened without his loving mother by his side.
