Shah Rukh Khan has pledged to help the toddler who tried to wake up his dead mother at Bihar’s Muzaffarpur railway station. The superstar said he knows what it feels like to lose a parent.
If the tragedy of the migrant crisis could be encapsulated in one video, it would be the heart-wrenching one where a baby is trying to wake its mother, who is lying lifeless on a railway platform in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur. It was a clip that shook the conscience of a nation, perhaps even pushed the Supreme Court to finally take a strong stand on the ongoing migrant crisis.

The Bollywood star, through his foundation and other ventures – Red Chillies Entertainment, Kolkata Knight Riders – has been helping daily wage workers and even frontline warriors as India battles the pandemic. He provided 25,000 PPE kits to the medical workers in Maharashtra. Through Kolkata Knight Rides and Meer foundation, he announced a series of initiatives in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan, including a contribution to the West Bengal CM’s Relief Fund, distribution of ration, essential supplies and help in rebuilding homes. In Mumbai, the actor and his wife Gauri offered their four-storey office to be turned into a quarantine centre.
SRK has proved once again that he is a hero both on and off screen.
