The internet’s been flooded with hand-washing PSAs. But this catchy song-and-dance routine by the Kerala police is a mood.
In this age of coronavirus, we’ve been flooded with PSAs. Practise social distancing, self-isolation and most importantly, wash hands for a good 20 seconds or more.
The Happy Birthday song is passé. The internet is now flooded with hand-washing songs, but this peppy song-and-dance routine by policemen from Kerala is our find of the day.
The instructional video, uploaded on the State Police Media Centre Kerala Facebook page, shows six masked police officers shaking a leg to the song Kalakatha from the Malayalam movie Ayyappanum Koshiyum while demonstrating the right way to wash one’s hands. Needless to say the video has gone viral. Within 19 hours since it was uploaded, it has crossed one million views and has been shared over 33,000 times. The reactions on social media are gold.
This is absolutely amazing!
Thank you @kerala police!

Comments continue to pour in on Facebook – 2,500 and counting. Everyone seems to be thrilled by the quirky approach of the policeman. But in times of despair, we need some cheer.
PS: Another PSA we totally dig is that of Arnold Schwarzenegger and his donkey urging fans to stay at home.
Stay at home as much as possible. Listen to the experts, ignore the morons (foreheads). We will get through this together. pic.twitter.com/FRg41QehuB
