Dutt, who’s been the star of dozens of blockbuster films in the last three decades, first rushed to hospital on Saturday complaining of breathlessness. He was administered a coronavirus test, which came back negative, and was discharged on Monday morning.
Doctors however said they found fluid in his lungs during the tests. They refused to comment further citing doctor-patient confidentiality, the Hindustan Times reported. But Dutt was eventually diagnosed with stage three lung cancer.
The 61-year-old actor, who was last seen in the film Panipat last year, will now go to the US for further treatment, the report said, prompting shocked fans and peers to take to social media to wish the actor well.

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is a lung cancer survivor himself, said the actor was a “fighter” who is strong enough to see this tough phase through on Twitter.
You are, have and always will be a fighter @duttsanjay. I know the pain it causes but I also know you are strong and will see this tough phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery.

With news of poet Rahat Indori’s sudden death on Tuesday, and this upsetting update from the Dutt household today, 2020 just seems to be confirming once again that it has very little good news to offer.
