Actor Priyanka Chopra has been on the receiving end of a lot of flak in the last few years — with everything from her Hollywood accent, to her wedding to Nick Jonas, to the views she shares on Instagram being met with brickbats online.
But going by a report released on Thursday, the actor seems to be in no mood to look back. Chopra has now apparently signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Amazon studios and is set to bring more desi representation to audiences abroad.
Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha took to Twitter to congratulate the actor, as well as shut down her haters. He brought up a Bombay Times article from years ago that had written Priyanka Chorpra off completely, saying, “No one would touch her with a barge pole”.
“Yeah… no one can,” the filmmaker wrote in response to the news of her new multi-million dollar deal.
I am so reminded of a Bombay Time front page article that wrote her off saying how NO ONE would touch her from a barge pole. Yeah… No one can…. https://t.co/Rd1Hp04XEU

The only actor in recent times to make a big break in Hollywood is now set to work on two shows with Amazon. One, titled, Sangeet is based on Indian pre-wedding traditions, and will be co-produced by her husband Nick Jonas.
The second project is Anthony and Joe Russo’s spy series, Citadel, which will see Priyanka Chopra in the lead along with actor Richard Madden of Game of Thrones fame. As per the reports, Chopra will make more content in both Hindi and English.
YESSSS @AmazonStudios, LET’S 👏GET 👏 IT!!! So honored and excited to finally share this news with you.

In an Instagram post, the actor wrote that she had always “dreamt of an open canvas of creative talent coming together from all over the world to create great content.”
“As a storyteller, my quest is to constantly push myself to explore new ideas that not only entertain, but most importantly, open minds and perspectives. Looking back on my 20 year career, I hope that I’m on my way to achieving that,” the post read.

The actor has in the past shown that she is a great sport, taking jokes about her accent on the chin, and even joking about it herself. But she has also been called out on several occasions for her political views, which many have claimed are half-baked and often focus on the wrong issues.
With the new Amazon deal, Chopra has proved that despite all the criticism levelled at her, she has earned a one-way ticket to success.
