Akshay Kumar hasn’t had a film release in 2020, but remains popular as ever. Kumar has had an extremely profitable year, becoming Bollywood’s highest paid actor, surpassing even some of the top earners of Hollywood, like Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and Jackie Chan. The news comes after Forbes magazine released its list of the highest paid male actors for the year, where Kumar is ranked sixth and is the only Indian actor on the list.

Kumar earned his place on the list despite not having any film releases so far, thanks to his massive portfolio of endorsements. His advertising deals have netted him a majority of his earnings, which Forbes estimates at 48.5 million US dollars. The only actors ahead of him in the list are Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, and Vin Diesel. This is the fifth consecutive year in which Kumar has made the list of highest paid actors.

Kumar’s earnings are likely to continue to rise. The actor has a big budget blockbuster release, Sooryavanshi, waiting for release. It was delayed due to the global pandemic, and will be out once theatres reopen to the public. In addition to the Rohit Shetty-helmed Sooryavanshi, Kumar also has the upcoming releases of Laxmmi Bomb, Bell Bottom, Bachchan Pandey, and other projects in his kitty.

The actor’s fans are naturally ecstatic about the news. Twitter is full of fans congratulating Kumar on making it to the Forbes list yet again. Through his lucrative endorsement deals and smart selection of acting projects, Kumar has navigated his way to the top of the mountain in Bollywood. This year, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who were Kumar’s compatriots on the list in previous years, are not featured in 2020.

Kumar plays a hero on screen, but when it comes to growing his bank balance, he is clearly a khiladi.
