Republic TV anchor Arnab Goswami’s unending tirade against the alleged “Bollywood mafia” have rubbed at least one person the wrong way. In a series of tweets, director Ram Gopal Varma indicated that the comments on Republic TV were unacceptable, and that he was planning a movie on Arnab.
Over the last week, Republic TV anchor Arnab Goswami has been on an unending tirade against the alleged “Bollywood mafia”, with accusations of drug abuse, sexual assault, and underworld connections surfacing numerous times in his debates. Gowami’s strong words now seem to have rubbed at least one director the wrong way. In a series of tweets posted on Monday, Ram Gopal Varma, who’s best known for films like Satya and Sarkar, indicated that the comments made on Republic TV against the industry were absolutely unacceptable to him.
The director also went on to apparently announce that he would make a new film on the anchor’s life, titled “Arnab — The News Prostitute”.
“Was shocked to see #ArnabGoswami talking about Bollywood in such a horrible way…” the first of the director’s tweets read, referring to the channel’s incessant coverage of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. “He calls it the dirtiest industry ever with criminal connections, it’s full of rapists, gangsters, sexual exploiters and what not?”
Was shocked to see #ArnabGoswami talking about Bollywood in such a horrible way ..He calls it the dirtiest industry ever with criminal connections ,it’s full of Rapists, gangsters, sexual exploiters and what not?

The director went on to criticise the way a number of high-profile deaths, spanning 25 years, were clubbed together on the channel.
It beats me in what dumb way #ArnabGoswami can combine the deaths of Divya Bharthi,Jiah khan, Sridevi and Sushant into one case and claim that the murderer is Bollywood..incidentally the 4 deaths happened over a span of nearly 25 years
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
And in all the four cases of Divya,Jiah,Sridevi and Sushant there were completely different people and circumstances ..But in Arnab’s mind they are all one and had been killed by an entity called Bollywood

Varma then urged a number of his peers and prominent faces who have been named in the Republic debates, such as Mahesh Bhatt, Aditya Thackeray and Karan Johar, to not remain “hiding under the tables” of their “plush offices” unless they want to appear guilty.
And why the hell are you guys #AdityaChopra , @karanjohar , @MaeshNBhatt @iamsrk @BeingSalmanKhan and so many others are so scared of the barking #ArnabGoswami that u are hiding under the tables of ur plush offices ???
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
If u guys #AdityaChopra , @karanjohar , @MaheshNBhatt @iamsrk @BeingSalmanKhan are so scared that if u speak against him ,it might go against the current public sentiment don’t forget that it’s him, who aroused that sentiment and ur silence is making u all look guilty for sure
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
Atleast now all film industry people should come out and speak openly about #ArnabGoswami ‘s falsifications instead of running scared like deer from a wild dog

Much to social media’s surprise, the director also seemed to announce that he would make a film to tear down the facade of Republic TV, and “expose” Arnab Goswami.
I for one am feeling very strongly about this and I decided to make a film on #ArnabGoswami in which I will take the clothes off his facade and make him naked exposing the lengths and breadths of all his vital corrupt stats
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
My film on him is titled
“ARNAB”
THE NEWS PROSTITUTE
After extensively studying him I mulled on whether the tagline should be The News Pimp or The News Prostitute though both are relevant I finally settled on prostitute for its sound.— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
After announcing a placeholder title, RGV also revealed some of his marketing plans.
Hey #ArnabGoswami whether u react to my film or not I don’t care a damn because my target audience is not going to be u , but it will be ur viewers ..I want to shake them up with the way I will expose in my film the back of ur public face in Republic Tv
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 3, 2020
On the other hand if u #ArnabGoswami react to my film or try to discredit me I would welcome that too because I can use it for the publicity of my film

It’s still unclear whether the director’s Twitter rant should be taken as an official announcement for an upcoming film. What is clear, though, is that the stand-off between Arnab Goswami and Bollywood is just about starting to get interesting.
